Wizz Air is adding a new Airbus A321neo to its fleet at London Luton Airport.
The new A321neo will take Wizz Air’s total number of aircraft at Luton up to 12. It will also create new jobs and allow Wizz Air to offer more than 12 million seats per year from London.
With flights commencing in winter 2023/2024, passengers can look forward to greater accessibility to six sought-after destinations on the following routes:
- Hurghada – 4 weekly flights
- Sharm el Sheikh – 3 weekly flights
- Tirana – 35 weekly flights
- Prague – 12 weekly flights
- Reykjavik – 7 weekly flights
- Amman – 5 weekly flights
Wizz Air operates with the lowest carbon emissions per passenger/km against all competitor airlines**, which amounted to 53.8 grams in the financial year 2023.
Making up the entirety of its fleet at London Luton by 2025, the Airbus A321neo aircraft incorporates the latest technology and offers significant environmental benefits.
The aircraft provides a nearly 50% reduction in noise, a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions*** and can currently fly with up to 50% SAF blend****.
The update signals positive business growth for the ultra-low-cost airline, which expects to create 40 new jobs.
As a result, Wizz Air will be recruiting new cabin and flight crew, bringing the number of staff in the UK to almost 800.
Marion Geoffroy, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK, said: “The addition of a new aircraft marks a significant investment for the UK, and we’re pleased to solidify our market-leading position at London Luton.
“Sustainability is a priority for us, so we are only investing in the latest technology aircraft to help meet our environmental commitments.
“We are seeing increased demand for more flights to destinations across Europe. With this new aircraft increasing our capacity at Luton, we are now providing more seats than ever for passengers to travel to and from London.”
