Wizz Air has carried 6 million passengers through London Gatwick (LGW) to more than 15 countries.

The six millionth passenger was welcomed with a £200 voucher on a flight from Istanbul to London Gatwick.

This milestone comes at the end of the winter season with Wizz Air operating 19 flights per day from London Gatwick, including daily flights to Athens, Istanbul, Nice and Rome.

Wizz Air said its operations at London Gatwick “have gone from strength to strength”, having carried over 2.8 million passengers over the last twelve months.

The number of flights from London Gatwick by Wizz Air has also increased by 19%. The airline currently employs over 230 people at its Gatwick base.

The airline has recently announced its #LetsGetLost prize draw which will take winners on a trip to a mystery destination.

The flight will depart from London Gatwick to the unknown destination on the 7th of March.

Zsazsa Trubek, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air, said: “We are very pleased to celebrate 6 million passengers at London Gatwick.

“More than 1 million passengers have travelled with us to and from London Gatwick in the last 6 months and we know this milestone would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our staff.

“We want to thank our passengers for putting their trust in us and we hope to welcome more travellers at London Gatwick as they travel to Europe and beyond.”

Stephanie Wear, VP of Aviation Development at London Gatwick said: ”We are delighted that Wizz Air continues to grow the number of passengers they serve at London Gatwick.

“Many of the passengers that have passed through in the last 6 months will have had the delight of using the newly refurbished Railway Station with new concourses and easy access to and from the platforms smoothing the access for passengers to connect on to London stations and a further 100+ direct connections”.
