Deemed the Channel Islands’ answer to England’s South West Coast Path and Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, the Jersey Tidal Trail highlights the island’s natural beauty whilst also accentuating its rich cultural heritage, with ancient remains and monuments as points of interest.

Ranging from rugged cliff-top hikes to relaxed harbour-hopping strolls, where seaside cafes provide the perfect spot for a break, each stretch of the coast has been carefully curated into five manageable walking sections to make the most of the new trail.

Wayne Perks, Managing Director, Ramble Worldwide, commented: “Less than an hour’s flight from the UK, the Jersey Tidal Trail offers a unique and rewarding way to capture the character of this small yet remarkably diverse island.

“With dramatic tidal shifts, sea cliffs strewn with wild flowers and home to thriving colonies of seabirds, it also has a rich and fascinating history.

“Whether you enjoy the camaraderie of a group or the independence and flexibility of a self-guided itinerary, we have devised three great ways for our customers to explore this gem of an island on foot.”

With abundant nature and a history spanning the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods through to the Hundred Year War, the Battle of Jersey and German occupation during WWII, highlights from the trail include:

–        The leisurely section, from the pastel coloured fishing village of Goury, tucked below the medieval Mont Orgueil castle, along a sweeping promenade past the tidal island fortress of Elizabeth Castle to the historic port of St Aubin with its lively restaurants and bars.

–        The windswept hike along the headland to Noirmont Point with its unusual WWII bunker complex, through St Brelade’s Bay, to Jersey’s iconic La Corbiere Lighthouse, on the island’s south-western tip.

–        The sweeping stroll along St Ouen’s Bay, one of Europe’s original surfing beaches, around the heathland cliffs of Les Landes, past the golden sands of Plémont Bay and through woodland to Grève de Lecq cove.

–       The hike to the Devil’s Hole, a dramatic 100ft diameter coastal crater, before crossing Mourier Valley to Sorel Point, the northernmost tip of the route, with panoramic views of Sark, Guernsey and France.

With the choice of joining a small-group guided departure or taking on the trail independently with detailed maps and support, Ramble Worldwide’s new holidays ease the way to discovering this fascinating island.
