First Steel Cut On Carnival Festivale

Carnival Cruise Line has held a steel cutting ceremony for its fourth Excel-class ship, Carnival Festivale.

The event took place at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and officially marks the start of construction for the 6,400-guest vessel.

It will be powered by liquefied natural gas and is scheduled to launch in spring 2027, sailing from Port Canaveral.

Onboard, it will feature new area,s including two music-themed zones and an outdoor family zone on the top three decks, named Sunsation Point.

This will incorporate Carnival Waterworks Ultra, offering six slides and two family raft rides, two splash pads and dedicated baby splash areas.

Additionally, it will have 1,000 interconnecting cabins, nearly 70% more than on the first three Excel class ships.

Further information regarding onboard areas and itineraries will be announced in due course.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, said: “The steel being cut for our next new ship is music to my ears, which is in tune with many of the themed experiences Carnival Festivale will bring to our guests.

“From the music-themed zones to the expansive new water park we’ve planned for this ship, she will continue the tradition of infusing innovative new features into our fleet.

“Each of her three sister ships is a great success and we are excited to once again partner with Meyer Werft as we continue to build upon the revolutionary Excel platform.”
