Japan: Kawagoe Pass For Global Travellers

Tokyo’s TOBU Railway has launched a KAWAGOE PASS Digital Ticket for international travellers.

Tickets can be bought through Klook and offer a convenient and modern way to explore the historical city of Kawagoe, known affectionately as “Koedo” or “Little Edo”.

The digital ticket replaces traditional paper tickets with a digital QR code. Upon purchase, travellers only need to scan their QR Codes to access the train.

Agents can advise their customers visiting Kawagoe to visit Klook to purchase the pass.

Kawagoe, a city that flourished as a castle town during the Edo period, offers a rich tapestry of historical and cultural attractions.

One of the city’s highlights is Ichibangai and Kashiya Yokocho, where visitors can indulge in a variety of traditional confections and treats.

The streets are lined with shops that retain the atmosphere of old Edo, providing a delightful culinary and cultural experience.

On the 19th and 20th of October, Kawagoe will host the vibrant Kawagoe Festival, also known as the Kawagoe Hikawa Festival float event.

Originating from the “Annual Festival” held by Hikawa Shrine on 14th October, the festival features the “Shinko Festival” and the “Float Event (Festival).”

The “Shinko Festival” has a rich history dating back to 1648, when Matsudaira Izunokami Nobutsuna, the lord of Kawagoe, donated a portable shrine, lion’s head, drums, and other items to Hikawa Shrine, encouraging the festival’s development.

The Kawagoe Festival is a magnificent display of tradition and community spirit, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s cultural heritage.

Tobu Department Store offers a vast selection of fashion, electronics, and gourmet foods, ensuring a delightful shopping experience.
