Travalo.com, an online travel agency based in London, England, announced Wednesday that it has added a payment method to its platform that allows ticket bookers to pay with Bitcoin and 40 other cryptocurrencies.
Travala’s management acknowledges that its decision to add payment methods with cryptocurrencies is a follow-up to the recent trend. As is known, cryptocurrency users continue to grow from 73 million in June last year to 106 million today.
This proves that many people are increasingly believing in cryptocurrencies and are using them for everyday transactions. In February, Travala even recorded 68% of its revenue from booking tickets using cryptocurrencies.
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala, revealed that this year is a very important year for cryptocurrencies as people are looking for ways to spend them on everyday items, including using them to buy plane tickets at Travala.
To note, Travala is one of the largest online travel agents in the world with more than 3 million bookings. In February, the company under the Binance-backed TravelbyBit posted a 187% increase in annual revenue to over US$1 million.
