Viking, a cruise ship operator with operational headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, and marketing headquarters in Los Angeles, California, US, recently received delivery of the Viking Venus, the newest cruise ship, from the Fincantieri shipyard, Ancona, Italy.
Currently the Viking Venus is heading to UK to be inaugurated by her ceremonial godmother Anne Diamond, a esteemed British journalist and broadcaster, on 17th May. The ship will then affect spring and summer departures from England’s Scenic Shores itinerary.
“We are very proud to welcome our newest ship to our fleet this year. Many of us have been living at home for months. So, this is an important milestone as we begin to return to the real world,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking.
The Viking Venus is a 47,800 ton cruise ship with 465 cabins that can accommodate 930 guests. The ship was designed in Scandinavian style, each cabin has a veranda. Spacious public spaces and abundant al fresco dining options will also be a hallmark of the ship.
