AmaWaterways has announced a culinary partnership with acclaimed British chef Theo Randall for an exclusive July sailing aboard the luxury AmaWaterways AmaLea on the Romantic Danube itinerary.
All details correct at time of publication (30 September 2026)
Sailing the Danube River through Germany, Austria and Hungary from the 17th – 24th July 2027, this partnership will see Theo host two intimate Chef’s Table luxury dining experiences on board the ship, designed to showcase the culinary depth of a scenic AmaWaterways cruise.
Theo will carefully curate a bespoke menu which will reflect the local region with this signature flare. With locally sourced ingredients at the forefront of the experience, bringing guests closer to the authentic stories of the destinations they visit.
As well as indulging in an exquisite multi-course meal personally prepared by Theo, guests will spend the night in his company as he walks them through the tales behind every dish, sharing what has inspired him, creating a truly immersive and enriched gastronomy experience.
Speaking on the partnership, AmaWaterways Chief Creative and Marketing Officer, Toni Stoeckl, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Theo, who brings with him an outstanding reputation for delivering luxury fine-dining at the highest level.
“Dining is such an integral element to our travels and provides a true immersion that brings us closer to the heart of the people and places we encounter. Our river cruises are built upon the joys of exploration and authentic encounters with the towns, cities and villages we visit.
“Having Theo on board to tell the stories of these destinations and take guests on a culinary journey will bring our guests even closer to the people, culture and traditions that make these places so special.”
Theo possesses an exceptional culinary reputation built upon years of fine dining excellence. He opened his first multi-award-winning restaurant, Theo Randall at The InterContinental, to huge critical acclaim and success in 2006 and went on to receive his first Michelin Star as Head Chef and Partner at The River Café.
His many television appearances include Saturday Kitchen, Market Kitchen, Something for the Weekend, Sunday Brunch, Celebrity MasterChef, Countryfile, and many more. Theo was also named the winner against other Michelin-star chefs in the BBC cooking series Yes Chef.
“There’s a special bond that links food and river cruising. As a river winds through historic towns and vibrant cities, every stop reveals a new story, much like every dish brings to life the stories of the people, places, and passions behind them”, said Theo.
“The best meals don’t just feed us, they bring us closer to where we are. Following the course of a river is like turning the pages of a living story, where every destination, every flavour, and every encounter are at the heart of the journeys that move us”, he added.
The Romantic Danube itinerary with Theo Randall, on sale now, sails between Vilshofen and Budapest, stopping in Passau, Linz, Weissenkirchen, Vienna and Bratislava on board a luxury sleek contemporary ship.
Guests will choose from a range of immersive shore excursions at each stop, from walking and bike tours to visits to historic landmarks and UNESCO sites.
